To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve

The half marathon was held last weekend. Lindy and I drove together to Moab on Friday where we met up with Boyce, Shad, Jodi, and Jodi's sister and her family. Saturday found us up at 6:30, ready to go by 7:30 and off we went all dressed in our athletic attire, covered with layers of warm clothing because the temperature was in the 30's.

We were bused up the canyon 13.1 miles, dropped off and there we waited until the start time of 10:00.

It was very cold just waiting around and soon everyone had to shed their warm clothing, put it in a bag where it would be trucked back down to the finish line to be picked up. Otherwise, you could shed your clothing along the way, but would lose it to charity donation. Shad and Jodi kept each other warm while waiting for the run to begin!

At long last, it was time to go. Shad and Boyce took off while Jodi, Lindy and I walked. Soon Jodi was off running as well which left Lindy and I pulling up the rear. The good thing about it was that we were alone. We would pass the water stations and get our own private cheering. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the canyon and of having lots of mother/daughter time together.

Lindy was amazing and I found myself so in awe of her and her strength and determination. She was determined to finish and finish she did! My goal was 4 hours and we did it in less than that!
Although it was wonderful to accomplish this half marathon, the best part was doing it with those I love - our wonderful children and grandchildren!!

An author by the name of James Allen is the man I quoted. He's not well known but inspirational.
